Few technologies have the potential to disrupt old institutions as much as blockchain – a system that maintains records on huge networks of individual computers. As with any new technology, it could be used for social good – such as supporting people who are priced-out of the current bank accounts – but the big challenge is how to limit its unintended consequences.

An EU-funded project aims to further the work of the OpenAIRE platform in supporting open access to scientific knowledge. The project is also contributing to the development of the EU's European Open Science Cloud, which provides unlimited access to publicly funded research output in Europe.

The ‘IT4Innovations Centre of Excellence’ is the first supercomputer centre of its kind in Czechia. The new infrastructure is kitted out with the very latest in information technology, including high-performance devices for simulations, modelling and computations.
